Rethinking your bookmarks

How often do have save bookmarks in your web browser? How many are categorized into appropriate folders? Finally how often do you revisit the majority of the links you saved?

I admit I only revisit no more than 10 percent (and that is a high number) of the web sites I have bookmarked. Why? 1.) After filing them away I forget they are there, 2.) Other things in life and online knock a lot of those things off the radar 3.) Other than knowing I may need that information “one day” I don’t have compelling incentives to make regular return visits

Technology that empowers me

Yes, I know the monkey washing the cat was a little out of character for this blog but I have a strange sense of humor so expect those odd, quirky things to creep in from time to time. My postings on this blog have been low the past week or so but I’ve been working on meeting some deadlines and have also been involved in some training to grow our business.

7 reasons you should use photo sharing services

In a past post I brought forth my frustration with how e-mail is used for the wrong reasons. One of the ways people abuse e-mail is by sending photos to friends and family. While one or two low resolution photos may be fine it’s not the best habit to get into. Yes, it is easy (at least for some people) to attach a photo and send it along. The following is a list of reasons you should use photo sharing service instead of sending photos as e-mail attachments.

The Standards of the Web

When people talk about computers and what they prefer, they will stand firm by the platform they use be it Windows, Mac or Linux. Interestingly enough all three also have web server software that host web sites, e-mail and other Internet applications. All three also have browsers and other programs that enable you to access [...]

As time progresses we will look at what we do to make our business and how we market ourselves better based on customer demand and feedback as well as trends in the marketplace. We have changed some broad categories into more focused niches. We are also making the fact that we are about providing marketing [...]

Why SpinningSilk?

This is a question we get asked a lot when we encounter people in public and hand out our business cards. When most people think of silk they usually think of clothing items made from the product of a silk worm. Actually when we came up with the name for our business we were combining [...]

When you hear the term, “Personal Branding” an initial thought may be that it’s all about how you look and come across to people but I was very happy to see a very refreshing post at the Personal Brand Blog on the myth that personal branding is about you.
Thinking about Earth Day 2008

I admit it. I grew up in a fairly conservative culture and something like Earth Day was often seen as something “counter-culture” or what the “hippies” were into. Truth be told I am still a very conservative person both politically and religiously although my views don’t always fit into the boxes people would [...]

I have mentioned and explained in a previous series the concept of “personal branding.” We usually think of branding as something connected to commercial products you buy off the shelf but really the idea of “personal branding” is nothing new, it’s basically a new term for the old concept of having a good name and [...]
